Tasigna Lawsuit Lawyer

What is Tasigna and what does it treat?

Tasigna, which made billions in sales worldwide, is a drug used to treat Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia (Ph+CML).

The drug, otherwise known as nilotinib, is classified as a tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (TKI), which helps treat the cancer by blocking a protein called Bcr-ABL, stopping the growth of cancer cells.

What are some of Tasigna’s side effects?

In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Tsigna for use. However, after being studied in peer reviewed journals, many reports showed a link between Tasigna and atherosclerosis, a disease that causes the narrowing of the arteries through plaque buildup, decreasing blood flow and oxygen to the heart. Atherosclerosis can result in injuries to the heart and vascular system, including strokes and heart attacks, and can even lead to death. What’s more, atherosclerosis has been documented to happen within a very short amount of time after Tasigna was taken.

Some additional side effects that may occur when taking Tasigna can include:

  • Gangrene
  • Amputations
  • Infections
  • Kidney failure
  • And more

While more and more evidence is supporting the dangers of Tasigna, neither Novartis— the developer of Tasigna— or the FDA has released an official warning to date.

Statute of Limitations on Claims Involving Tasigna

The statute of limitations for claims involving Tasigna can vary depending on each state. With that being said, if you do have cause for a claim, it’s important that you file within the state mandated period of time so that your claim does not expire.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that the sooner you file a claim, the better. By ensuring you file as soon as possible, you not only preserve imperative memories, facts and evidence, you’ll also be able to obtain files and witnesses that remember accurately more easily.

What should you do if you’ve suffered injuries from taking Tasigna?

If you or someone you love has experienced side effects or injuries after taking Tasigna, it’s important that you find an attorney that you can trust.
